2020 September to December Programs

We are pleased to share updated information on our September to December CanSkate, StarSkate and Ice Dance programs.

For more information on our September to December programs including schedules and session qualifications, please visit our Fall-Winter-Spring programs page.

As Peel Region has now entered Stage 3, we want to provide an update on the status of registration and our upcoming fall-winter-spring season. The SCBC staff, board, and coaches have been working hard on making plans for our programming as we continue to work closely with the City of Brampton and Skate Ontario.

WHAT WE KNOW
Skate Ontario has provided return to play protocols for Stage 3 including maximum numbers of skaters and coaches that will be allowed on the ice for training purposes. The current Stage 3 maximum training group sizes are as follows:

Canskate (Stage 2 and up):
36 skaters + 9 coaches/PAs per session (in the past these sessions have had spots for 60-72 skaters)

StarSkate (Star 1 and up):
15 skaters + 5 coaches per session (in the past these sessions have had spots for 20-35 skaters)

Due to policies and procedures currently in effect as a result of COVID-19, skaters must be able to stand, move and recover from falls independently to be eligible for registration. Coaches will not be providing hands on assistance to skaters.

WHAT WE ARE WORKING ON

  • Establishing updated policies and procedures for the fall-winter season by working closely with the City of Brampton.
  • Due to the decreased numbers of skaters allowed on the ice at any given time, our costs will go up. We recognize that this is a difficult time for many families. To mitigate a substantive increase, we are exploring areas to decrease costs in the operating budget.
  • As more information becomes available daily and due to the uncertain nature of this skating season, SCBC will offer a September – December and a January – June session separately.

At this time we are pleased to share our September to December program SCHEDULE.

All StarSkate programs from September to December (Bronze/Silver, Gold, and Platinum) will be 2-day programs. Skaters looking for additional training time are asked to speak with their private coach regarding ticket ice session opportunities. Skaters must register for 2 sessions that their base coach has been assigned to. Please speak with your coach prior to registering in order to determine which two sessions your skater should register for.

Registration dates and program fees will be communicated later this week. For more information on our September to December programs including session qualifications, please visit our Fall-Winter-Spring programs page.

All SCBC programming will follow Skate Ontario Return-to-Play policies and procedures which can be found HERE. We will also continue to work closely with the City of Brampton operations staff to follow all guidelines set out by Peel Public Health. If you have any questions regarding our adjusted policies and procedures due to COVID-19 please reach out to SCBC Operations Coordinator Andrea Nesbitt: [email protected].
