2019-2020 Season kicks off at Minto Summer Skate

This past weekend, Lindsay and Ethan travelled to Ottawa to compete in the 2019 Minto Summer Skate competition. This was their first event at the Novice level and we can’t wait to see their programs develop and grow over the course of this season.

Overall they finished in 10th place in a competitive event.

Way to go Lindsay and Ethan!

Up next for our SCBC skaters is the North-American Cup event in Lake Placid for Erica & Nolen (Novice Ice Dance) and the 2019 National Showcase event in Wenatchee, Washington  for skaters Alexandria, Samantha and Leah.

The North American Cup is a series of Novice level competitions organized by Skate Canada and US Figure Skating. Participants are selected by their respective member skating federations. We are very proud of Nolen and Erica for being selected by Skate Canada to represent Canada at the event in Lake Placid this week and wishes them the best of luck! Erica and Nolen are coached by Matt Doleman and Pam Krolick.

The 2019 National Showcase event features showcase and theatrical categories. Showcase fuses artistic creativity with figure skating for singles skaters, duets, small ensembles of three to seven and production numbers of eight to thirty. Our skaters qualified for this event by placing in the top 4 at the 30th Spring Skate Festival this past spring in Cheektowaga, New York. SCBC skaters attending the event are coached by Tara Dowdles. Best of luck and have fun!
