Teen/Adult skating is growing in popularity and we offer recreational, assessment and competitive opportunities to this segment of the population.
Teens and Adults can participate in our CanSkate and StarSkate programs. Adult competitions currently provide opportunities to adult skaters to experience the challenge of a competition in a fun, social environment. Skate Canada is continuing to expand its programming in this area.
SCBC offers a variety of programs for skaters ages 12 and up:
- Teen/Adult CanSkte
- Teen/Adult Star 1-4 (group lesson based)
- Open Sessions (must be working with a private coach
Registration for all 2026-2027 programs will open on Wednesday, August 12th at 12:00pm.

The last day of SCBC 2026 – 2027 regular season programs is Friday, June 18th.
REGISTRATION

All skaters MUST register for the highest session they qualify for at the time of registration. SCBC reserves the right to modify session qualifications for safety and capacity concerns.
SCBC BASE REGISTRATION FEE
When registering for any SCBC scheduled session, the following base registration fee will be automatically added to your invoice:
- Skate Canada Registrant Fee $30.00 (Mandated by Skate Canada)
- Skate Ontario Registrant Fee $30.00 (Mandated by Skate Ontario)
- Skate Canada Safe Sport Fee $5.00 (Mandated by Skate Canada)
- Skate Canada Insurance Fee $0.70 (Mandated by Skate Canada)
- SCBC Administration Fee $4.30
Total: $70.00
This base registration fee (covering Sept 1, 2026 – Aug 31, 2027) is collected by SCBC and remitted to Skate Canada on the skater’s behalf.
VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT POLICY
SCBC operates as a not-for-profit organization that requires the support of volunteers to operate successfully. The club offers various volunteer opportunities throughout the course of the skating season.
The volunteer following commitment applies to all registered skater families in the following sessions; Star 1, Star 2/3, Star 4/5, Provincial, Open, Teen/Adult Star 1 – 4, Pre-Competitive, Competitive, Ice Dance and Gold Ice programs.
The volunteer requirement for each family is 15 volunteer hours or $300. For families with multiple children in our program, an additional 5 hours or $75 is required per each additional child.
A $300.00 volunteer deposit per skater ($75 per each additional child) will be added to your 2026-2027 registration. Once your volunteer hours have been verified, the volunteer deposit will be returned in the form of a direct refund to your credit card.
Note: There is no payout for partial hours completed against your deposit. If you do not complete the required number of volunteer hours, your deposit will not be returned.

Open to skaters ages 12+ looking to learn the basics of skating. This is where skaters have the opportunity to develop a life-long interest in the sport. CanSkate serves as a feeder into the StarSkate & Competitive Figure Skating Programs; however, it is also ideal as a means of preparing skaters for hockey, ringette, speed skating and even pleasure skating.

The Teen/Adult Star 1-4 session is our entry level figure skating program for skaters ages 12+.
Qualifications:
- Successful completion in full, all Stage 6 CanSkate Levels of the Skate Canada CanSkate Program.

Skaters may select one or both of the Teen/Adult Star 1-4 sessions.
Session Fees Include:
- 50min of group lessons taught by members of the SCBC coaching team
Please note that all coaching fees will be included in this program.
*Fees may be broken up into eight monthly instalments (September – April) during the checkout process.
Proper figure skating attire and figure skates are required for skaters at the Star 1 level and higher. Please refer to our required equipment page for recommendations on where to purchase proper equipment.
Open sessions are designed for skaters age 12+ who are planning to compete in the Star 1 – 4, Provincial or Adult pathways OR for skaters looking to add additional sessions to supplement their training schedule.
Qualifications:
- Full Star 2 Freeskate OR
- Star 5a Dance (Willow Waltz)
**Skaters are reminded to check in with their base coach prior to registering for sessions to confirm availability**
*The Wednesday sessions at Jim Archdekin will begin on September 16th. From March 31st – June 16th the Wednesday sessions will shift to Cassie Campbell from 8:15 – 9:05pm.
Session Fees Include:
- On ice session
All private / semi-private coaching fees are additional. Coaches will invoice families directly for these fees typically on a monthly basis.
Program fees may be broken up into eight monthly instalments (September – April) during the checkout process.
The Open session fees do not include group lessons. All registered skaters must be working with an SCBC contracted private coach.
Open session skaters are permitted to Guest Skate on Open Sessions (or another session that they qualify for) where the session attendance capacity has not been met. Please refer to the Guest skating policy for additional details and the procedures regarding Guest Skating.
Skaters will have significant independent personal development time on this session. All registered skaters must be working with an SCBC contracted private coach.
