SCBC is thrilled to announce that 3 time Olympic Champion, 5 time Olympic Medalist, 3 time World Champion and now renowned coach, Scott Moir will be offering a seminar for SCBC skaters on Sunday, June 1st, 2025.
Scott began skating with his ice dance partner, Tessa Virtue in 1997. Tessa and Scott were known for their legendary elegance, athleticism and innovation, and their unparalleled unison. They capped off a tremendous competitive career by taking home two gold medals in the ice dance and team events at the 2018 Olympics, bringing their Olympic medal total to five. Over their 22 year career, Tessa and Scott made their mark on the sport of figure skating and inspired many generations for years to come.
Scott, a globally recognized ambassador for the sport of figure skating, is excited to be back with his I.AM family as he starts this next chapter of his career. Scott looks forward to offering all skaters the opportunity to reach their potential at a World-class skating academy and for the chance to give back to the sport that has given him so much.
The seminar is open to skaters at the Star 1-2 level and higher. There will be both an on ice component led by Scott as well as off ice led by two guest instructors:
Dance with Alex Crenian:
Alex is a professional dancer, choreographer and educator. Having performed with artists like Lady Gaga, Nick Jonas and Psy. Featuring choreographic works in theatre, music videos, film, commercials and TV series. She works in both Los Angeles and Toronto.
Alex has been a fan of skating ever since she was a kid because of its combination of athleticism and dance artistry. In 2015, the incredible Piper Gilles & Paul Poirier became regulars at Alex’s dance class. They introduced Alex to other incredible Ice Dance Teams when we moved to Zoom in 2020. This led to Alex becoming the Commercial Dance Coach at IDE and choreographing for several high performance Ice Dance teams and Synchronized Skating teams. She is beyond proud of all of her teams and cannot wait for what this season will bring.
Flexibility with Emma Daigle:
Emma Daigle is a certified personal trainer and Athletic Therapist in training. She was a member of the Nexxice Senior Synchronized Skating team for 6 years, retiring in 2023 after representing Canada at several World Synchronized Skating Championships. Originally from Alberta, Emma moved to Ontario to pursue her skating dreams. Emma has been coaching off ice for figure skaters since 2021 and focuses on strength, flexibility and artistry.
Exact session timing will be confirmed shortly, however the seminar will last approximately 3 hours and will be during the afternoon on Sunday June 1st.
The cost per skater is $25.00. Registration for this seminar will open on Tuesday, May 20th at 12:00pm. To register, please visit the corresponding link (based on your 2024-2025 session qualifications) below:
